
On February 17th, the inauguration ceremony of the Deep-Sea Equipment Test Tank and the 4th International Symposium on Deep-Sea Offshore Engineering were held in Qingdao. More than 300 experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from over 100 domestic and international units in the fields of shipbuilding and marine engineering gathered together. With the theme of "Deep Sea, Green, Digital, Intelligent," they exchanged views and discussed the development of deep-sea offshore engineering and the promotion of marine renewable energy development. Sun Yonghong, member of the Standing Committee of the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), secretary of the CPC Working Committee of the West Coast New Area, and secretary of the district committee, and Song Yingdong, deputy secretary of the CPC committee and president of the university, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Li Huajun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Ocean University of China, Hou Baorong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the National Engineering Technology Research Center for Marine Corrosion and Protection, Hao Fang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of China University of Petroleum (East China), and Yin Jingwei, member of the CPC committee and vice president, also attended. Professor Xia Guihua served as the chair of the conference and presided over it.

In his speech, Sun Yonghong stated that the West Coast New Area has focused on the direction of modern marine industries, with the continuous growth and strengthening of industries such as offshore engineering equipment and marine new materials, and the "blue productivity" has been full of energy. He hopes that the participating experts and scholars will take the symposium as an opportunity to carry out deeper exchanges and cooperation, further promote the development of marine new energy, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of the marine economy.

In his speech, Song Yingdong expressed that the inauguration of the Deep-Sea Equipment Test Tank will provide advanced experimental conditions for the research of deep-sea offshore engineering and offer strong technical support for the development of China's deep-sea equipment and the exploitation of marine resources. The university hopes to join hands with domestic and international counterparts to focus on cutting-edge fields such as deep-sea resource development, intelligent equipment, and green energy. By pooling efforts from all sides and deepening cooperation and exchanges, we aim to jointly promote the development of deep-sea equipment and technological innovation, making new and greater contributions to humanity's exploration and utilization of marine resources. During the conference, agreements were signed for the Joint Construction of the "Qingdao Deep-Sea Equipment Test Research Center," the Joint Industrial Project on "Hydrodynamic Performance Tank Test Research of Deep-Sea Floating Wind Power Platform," and the Alliance for the Joint Development of "Floating Wind Power Equipment at Sea."
