The Qingdao Innovation and Development Base adheres to the new development philosophy that talent strengthens the university and that human resources are the primary resource. Centered on the university's development goals and the Base's own construction objectives, and guided by the principle of "planned recruitment and targeted cultivation," the Base adopts a "master + team" model to attract leading talents and outstanding teams from both academia and industry.
Currently, focusing on key areas such as Marine Technology and Equipment, Ocean Science, Marine Information and Artificial Intelligence, and New Materials for Ships and Ocean Engineering, the Base has initially formed a teaching and research faculty team. This team is sufficiently sized, boasts reasonable academic diversity, possesses strong comprehensive qualities, and has significant development potential, effectively meeting the needs of postgraduate teaching and cultivation.
The Qingdao Innovation and Development Base currently has over 300 faculty members. This includes more than 200 individuals serving as doctoral supervisors, master's supervisors, postdoctoral researchers, and flexible-term appointed teachers. Additionally, there are over 80 off-campus master's/doctoral supervisors and adjunct professors.
Remaining true to our original aspiration and mission, we steadfastly commit to the "Four Services," uphold fostering virtue through education, and prioritize scientific research. Embracing the mindset of serving the nation's major strategic needs and promoting the "Craftsman Spirit," we strive to become exemplary teachers meeting the "Four Qualities" and achieve the "Four Unifications." This represents the lifelong professional pursuit of all faculty members at Harbin Engineering University and its Qingdao Innovation and Development Base.
