International Joint Research Center for Nanophotonics and Metamaterials (hereinafter referred to as the "Center"),composed of well-known domestic and foreign experts, is located at Qingdao Innovation and Development Base of Harbin Engineering University.

Embracing world-class experts, the Centerconducts scientific research and international talent joint trainingin the fields of nanophotonics and multi-physical field metamaterials,which aims at interdisciplinary perspectivesto create a complete theoretical system in terms of micro/nano processing and new metamaterial development, to explore precise control of physical field as to various photoelectric devices in new energy, intelligent manufacturing and core screen industry, as well as to integrate cutting-edge nanophotonics concepts and multi-physical field metamaterial manufacturing experimental technology, thus creating significant results for a new generation of microwave & optical communication, multi-physical field sensing, and energy enrichment & utilization.

The world-class Micro/Nano Processing Laboratory, Analytical Characterization Laboratory, Optics Laboratory andMicrowave Terahertz Laboratory are established at the Center.Multi laboratory linkage will make it possible for nanoscale component research and development with perfect design, optimization, processing and test platform ,which is intended to promote scientific & technological progress and industrial development, and provide talents for the advanced manufacturing industry in China.

Since 2023, the Center has set up the International Master Program Experimental Class, in which the English curriculum system is established and courses are taught by experts and scholars from multiple countries, enabling students to accept advanced educational concepts and align with the forefront of the world, intended to cultivate more composite talents with international perspective.
