The Pool of Extreme Ocean Omnidirectional Flow Field is a circular pool with a principal-dimension diameter of 30 m and a depth of 10 m, covering a deep well of 6m in diameter and 40m in depth. It is equipped with devices and equipment such as wave generating system, flow generating system, false bottom system, water mobile working platform and wind generating system, lifting system, central control system and environment, dynamic measurement system (including wave measurement system, velocity measurement system, contactless motion measurement system, and PIV testing system). The wave generating device has an active wave absorption function, and the wave direction angle is any angle within 0 to 360 degrees;The wave generating device can make 2D waves and 3D freak waves. Regular and irregular waves can be generated in terms of generating 2D waves. The maximum wave height of a regular wave is 0.5 m, with a period of 1 to 3 seconds. The maximum significant wave height of irregular waves is 0.24 m, and the spectral peak period ranges from 0.8 seconds to 2.5 seconds. For 3D freak waves, complex 3D waves within the breaking limit can be generated according to the input parameters. The flow generating device can achieve 360 degree flow generating, with a maximum flow rate of 0.25 m/s. The wind generating system can generate uniform wind or wind according to the wind spectrum, with a maximum wind speed of 30 m/s. After the construction of the Pool, it will support the establishment of a research capability system for complex multi-physics field ocean mechanisms and a comprehensive support testing capability system for marine equipment,meetingthe requirements of marine intelligent unmanned equipment and other WQ models and requirements for offshore tests, onshore joint debugging, testing and test of high-end marine engineering equipment, andenhaningthe coupling mechanism and evolution of extreme marine environmental wave fields, as well as major scientific issues and "bottleneck" technology research methods. The Omnidirectional Flow Field Pool will be completed by the end of 2024, capable of simulating extreme marineenvironmentwith 360° wind, wave, and flow coupling. The Pool is of full independent design. Currently, only Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and China have mastered the relevant technology:
