International Joint Research Center for Nanooptics and Metamaterial

The Center aims to create an internationally leading hardware experimental environment, cover advanced testing and measurement systems in the entire electromagnetic frequency range, create a full chain of research methods that integrate material preparation, processing, characterization, testing, and application development in the same physical space, and focus on cutting-edge physical problems. The Center focuses on the research of new multi-scale and multi-parameter metamaterial technology, exploring its new physical phenomena and laws in the fields of sound, light, electricity, magnetism, etc., and mastering the regulation means of various wave phenomena (electromagnetic wave, light wave, acoustic wave (mechanical wave)) and material interactions based on artificial intelligence technology. On this basis, the Center fully leverages the advantages of platform integration and conducts interdisciplinary research in different fields, such as fully exploring theoretical and technological gaps in the interdisciplinary fields of nanooptics and material science. With the continuous development of basic theories, new materials, new processes, and data processing technologies, various new concepts of nano-photoelectric materials and metamaterials continue to emerge, which will certainly promote the rapid development of emerging information technology, the continuous expansion of application fields and the continuous improvement of technical level. The Center relies on high-level international cooperation and keeps a foothold in basic research, aiming to address national strategic needs and cutting-edge major scientific and technological issues. It focuses on the fields of photon generation and regulation, optical sensing, and the utilization of light and electromagnetic energy, leveraging existing scientific research advantages and consolidating international advanced scientific research forces. Besides, it promotes the innovative development of interdisciplinary research in basic disciplines such as condensed matter physics, quantum physics, radio physics, nanooptics, chemistry, and material science in the fields of energy, information, material, medical care, and environment.
