Qingdao Innovation and Development Base implements talent training standards and curriculum systems consistent with the school headquarters. Not only do we assign the best teachers from the school headquarters to provide basic and professional courses, but we also recruit outstanding experts and scholars at home and abroad to provide a variety of innovative and entrepreneurship courses and cutting-edge lectures. In particular, we select teachers with sufficient research funding and in-depth cooperation with industry as academic mentors, and recruit experts with rich practical experience from enterprises and research institutes as practical mentors.
We educate graduate students, who pursue academic master's degrees, by incorporating science and education with equal emphasis on their moral and competence growth. To this end, we offer a mix of coursework, laboratory practice and dissertation, as well as a combination of mentorship from individual supervisors and supervisory groups collectively. We encourage interdisciplinary training and joint training internationally. Supervisors work with graduate students to develop individualized study plans for courses, scientific practices, and dissertations according to the requirements of the education program and the graduate students' reality, making the education systematic. Also, we are following the national strategies on maritime issues and the national needs ofcoast defense development. For this reason we are reinforcing our training in basic scientific research and tackling capabilities and highlighting the forging of scientific spirit in order tocultivate professionals urgently needed by the country.
We offer graduate students, who pursue professional degrees, programs that integrate production and education. In particular, we offer a mix of coursework, internship, and dissertation. We have introduced a dual mentorship system, whereby students are mentored by both on-campus interdisciplinary supervisor groups and corporate supervisors. The on-campus mentorship focuses on academia and the corporate mentorship focuses on career. The on-campus and corporate supervisors work together to design students' study plans and provide guidance in many parts such as course completion, internship taking, dissertation research, and paper writing. Moreover, we are exploring "project-oriented" educational efforts. Specifically, we would provideschool-enterprise joint school-runningsolutions to key technical issues or industrial transformation challenges of an industry or enterprise. As such, we would recruit experts and experienced senior technicians in different disciplines and engineering application fields to be responsible for the education of our graduate students.
